News had spread like wildfire at Hogwarts. People were whispering all through the Welcoming Feast. I heard that James finally slipped a love potion into Lily Evans' pumpkin juice!
I heard Lily hexed James so hard that it rebounded onto her and James took advantage of it.
I heard Lily Evans actually asked James out! Oh, don't be ridiculous...
But, it was true, wasn't it? Lily had asked James out. And nearly a week into the semester, girls were giving her evil glares. But they weren't the only ones.
Ever since Lily and James had finally gotten together, Sirius Black hadn't said two words to either of them. And if he did speak, it was full of malice. Which was quite unlike the Sirius that she had been observing over the past years.
It was late at night, and Lily was reading a book, curled up on the couch in front of the fireplace. Everyone had gone to sleep, and James had kissed her goodnight a while ago. She wasn't in the least tired, she hadn't been tired for a while. She was too excited to sleep.

Sirius considered James to be his left arm. Now that his left arm was gone, he felt off-balance. He couldn't sleep. After tossing and turning for several hours behind the curtains of his four-poster bed, he wandered down into the Common Room, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his palms.

Lily looked up from her book at the sound of someone coming down the stair case. She peeked over the side of the couch. But, in the darkness, she saw nothing. "Hello?"

Bollocks! Evans! He was so looking forward to being alone. He heaved a great sigh. "Sorry," he muttered. "I'll just...go back upstairs then..."

"Sirius?" Lily furrowed her brow. "You don't have to do that. I don't mind some company."

Another sigh. "I...well...I thought you wanted to be alone."

"I wouldn't mind," She replied. "That is... unless you wanted to be alone."

"I don't really care," he replied. "All I know is I can't sleep for shit."

"Neither can I," Lily scooted up on the couch. "Care to take a seat?"

"Yeah, sure. I guess. Nothing else to do, right?" he said with a small chuckle. He sat on the sofa and curled his knees up to his chest.

"Not at this hour. Though, I'm sure you would think of something to do with James, right? Break about fifty school rules in one go, or something?" She put her book down with a light smile.

Sirius sighed and rolled his eyes, "You do know that we do have other hobbies than wreaking havoc, right?"

"Of course. Pinching food from the kitchens. Oh, and Quidditch. Charming ladies," Lily listed on her fingers. "Did I miss any?"

"You forgot being a righteous asshole to his best friend and his girlfriend," he added, staring into the fireplace.

"Ah," Lily sat back. "Now we're on a completely different topic, aren't we? You're admitting to being an arse?"
