He keep his frightened stare on her, but slowly let the hold on his arm go allowing her to touch the black long sleeve of his half black half purple, way too large, jersey sweater. The one he only wore around the house when he had nothing to do with his day. He hadn't pulled it up to actually see the harm that was done, but it felt like a nightmare below his elbow.

Lily gently held his forearm in her hand as she pulled the jumper sleeve up. A large bruise was revealed, causing Lily to emit a small gasp. "Oh, Sev..." She murmured, her finger's lightly touching his skin. Her other hand itched towards her wand, but she stopped it. No magic. Blast. "You should get some ice on this... I'd use my magic but... Oh, Merlin..."

Swinging, she thought about her own summer with ''parents'', if she would ever consider them that, who were hateful. Were Snape's parents the same? Sure, Brad had snapped on her a couple of times, not at all often, and laid a hand on her, but would later mumble an apology of sorts. But was Sniv--Severus going through something worse? Were there worse people?
Of course there were. People murdered her father. She shuddered at the thought.
She thought about the bruises on her abdomen and her upper arms. True, it wasn't a daily procedure, but, being Marlene, she couldn't ever hold her tongue. And Brad, being Brad, couldn't hold back his bastard like ways.
She pitied Snape for another moment, before reminding herself who he was exactly. She figured Lily's caring ways were rubbing off on her--she needed more time with James and Sirius.
She swung higher, her hair all in her face and the moon now coming out, a few stars visible.

"Ss-..." he slipped a quick hiss but cut himself off not wanting her to notice. He bit the corner of his lip, looking down at the bruise for the first time. Well that's what happens when your shoved against the closet door. Bloomin' doorknobs.

The bruise was already starting to fade, just at the touch of Lily. She had the Healer's touch, so Madame Promfrey had stated. And it was proven last year at the Career Meetings with Professor McGonagal. But still, the bruise needed some ice or something. "I... should bring you back to my house. Get you some ice. You have all that luggage to carry around tomorrow... This won't help it," She looked up at him, biting her lip. She shouldn't be so nice to him. He didn't deserve to be looked at by her. Blast her and her soft heart.

"I'm not going home." pulling his arm away, but spoke quietly just above a whisper. He wanted to believe she just wanted to help, but with their new history he felt like he was being made weak, and being patronized.

"Then where will you go? You are coming back to Hogwarts aren't you?" Lily asked. "Look, really, you need ice on that. And none of us are of age to conjure it. I won't tell Potter or anyone, if that's what you're afraid of. You know I don't want anything to do with that toerag."

"I'm not afraid of anything." he said trying to keep his voice down. His words sounded stubborn and childish. Lily knew everything about him, including his fears. Yet he refused to believe it. Severus looked down and pulled his sleeve down, and held onto the cuff for a moment fidgeting. He struggled with words thinking of how to responed to her Hogwarts question. Of course he was coming back even though he wanted to ask if she really even cared.

"If you're not afraid of anything, then let me get some ice for you," She paused for a second before adding. "You really should be more grateful. I could just go back with Marlene. I mean, Merlin, Sev... I could've let her just keep talking to you like that! After all you've done to me... I could just walk away..."

His eyes actually teared over and he had to wipe his hand down from his forehead to his chin. "Lily..." trying to clear the water from his voice. "You know I can't go home. I'm just...not. It's not going to happen. I left because I had to." he tried to explain, his father's words coming back into his thoughts. He was grateful. He just...his head wasn't right with how his night had been. Along with the disbelief they were even talking.

Lily stepped back, running her hand through her long hair. She sighed, her mind telling her to just get the bloody hell out of there, but her heart saying that he needed help and that no matter what he had done to destroy you. No matter how many countless nights you had spent up crying, you can't turn someone down. "Come on," She grabbed down near his hand. "I'll get you some ice and then you can get out of my sight. You can go... I hear Bellatrix lives not far from here. Or Avery. They'd keep you for the night."

Marlene heard the most recent exchange of words, and was slightly ticked off that her friend was breaking tradition and helping the person who'd hurt her most, in the past year, at least. How could she? Was she really too sweetly blinded to see what a git he was?
She hopped off the swing and put her hands in her pockets. "Well, seeing as you've chosen the git instead of me, I guess I'll walk home alone, then?" she asked, her bitterness lingering in her voice.

"He's hurt, Marl," Lily said, plea in her voice. "I'll just get him some ice and then he can go. I've even healed Potter when he was hurt..."

He couldn't help but wrap his hand around hers giving it a gentle squeeze. "No...no, Lily, I-...I can't. I can't do that." Go stay with Bellatrix? How could she even propose that. No matter how close everyone thought they were, crawing to any of his housemates- he'd never hear the end of it. "How do I explain something like this...?" he asked hypatheticly. He wouldn't be able to.

She scoffed, "I heard. Then you jabbed him ever so nicely in the gut," she replied. "And the difference is, James never called you the m-word. But of course, you have to be St.Lily. Honestly, Lily." She admired Lily for it, deep down, and it wasn't fully meant as an insult. And now, she was feeling a bit bad. She sighed.
"Just...fix him up and I'll see you tomorrow, alright?" she gave in, not believing what she was saying.
