"I-- th--m--," Lily stuttered, stuck at being caught at her slip. She recovered. "Talk to Sirius lately, Mar?"

"I'll have you know, I haven't. Haven't heard from him since I sent him a letter right after school ended asking if he stole my Quidditch gloves, thank you," she said, sticking her chin out. "But nice try, Lily. The first boy that comes to your mind and you pretend it's the same situation. Bullocks."

"Your Quidditch gloves were in my trunk and you know it. You didn't have room in yours, remember? Bullocks if you don't like him. It's the same situation as me and Ja-Potter. Only, Sirius isn't obsessing over you like a tot and his puppy."

"Exactly. And the fact that, oh, I don't know, me and Sirius don't fancy each other at all!" she stated, giving Lily a look. "Besides, I'm forgetful, you know that. He knicks my things all the time, and above all else...we hate each other. You and James on the other hand...different story," she said, feeling as if she'd won this one as she pumped herself higher into the air, the breeze pulling hair out of her ponytail.

"If you hate him so much, then why are you always staring at him?" Lily pushed herself higher to meet Marlene's push. "And what about me and Potter? He likes me. And it's worthless to get involved with someone like that. He'll get tired of chasing after me soon enough."

"Oh yeah, because he's been chasing you since, what, second year? Lily, if he hasn't given up by now, he never is. You might as well give in," she said, then glaring at Lily.
"I never stare at Sirius Black unless I am glaring a death glare in his direction, in which case he runs for his life, so it isn't very long. Nice try though, Ms.Dreaming-About-Potter's-Abs," she teased, pushing higher, now. Ever the competitive one, Marlene was.

"I've never so much as seen Potter's abs! You know I never go to the Quidditch games. They're repulsive. Boys and girls pushing each other around to their deaths. It's disgusting." Lily had a well-known dislikes of sports, Wizarding or Muggle.

"Oh, Lily Evans, if you don't want to start a physical fight with me I suggest you cut off that train of thought completely," she said, being the sports addict and lover she was, Muggle and Wizarding. If Marly didn't do something at least everyday, she exploded. She had to at least run everyday--it was her way of clearing her head, and loosing the large amounts of energy she pent up day to day.

"Oh, dear, no. Not a physical fight. Maybe a mental one, because I'd surely win that," Lily teased, banter flying between the both of them.

"You prat! Just because I don't spend every waking minute of my time with my nose buried in a bloody book doesn't make you any better than me! Besides, it would depend on the subject. As I recall, you're as bad as Pettigrew when it comes to Transfiguration," she said, taking the upper hand. Sometimes, Marlene tended to get carried away with her temper. Actually, it was always.

"Which is why I took extra lessons this summer. I've gotten loads better. McGonagal isn't going to believe her tightly strung bun when she sees me."

"I bet she'll be amazed, Lily," she laughed, swinging higher and higher as she closed her eyes, the breeze pulling at her hair and turning her cheeks a tint of pink. "I can't wait to go back. Hogwarts is home, y'know? Plus, there's no Petunia at Hogwarts," she joked around.

"I'd rather face Petunia all-year round, than Potter or Sev..." Lily let the swing fall into a gentle swaying. "Truth be told."

"Well, I guess I can see that. She wasn't as bad when we were younger," she said, slowing down as well. "Still, I'd choose kicking Bellatrix and Narcissa Black's arses before staying home, cause at least I'd still be at Hogwarts."
It was clear to anyone that Marlene loved the school more than life itself. She felt like she really belonged there, like everyone accepted her for beign a witch. Though she was rejected by the arrogant Slytherins for being of the bloodline she was, but she couldn't give a damn if she tried about any of them.

"Just two more years... scary, isn't it? Then we'd be off on our owns. You're going to be a big Quidditch star, yea? Or a footballer. And I'll be a healer. At St. Mungo's. Maybe for children... A children's Healer. What do you think?"
