James Potter was studying. Yes, it was true, everyone.
In public, a clear open room, James Potter was studying for his Potions exam. Which, incidentally, was tomorrow. And which he was also unprepared for.
It wasn't a secret that James wasn't strong in Potions. Though he was a fair student, his strong suits were in Transfiguartion--not in Potions. Oh, and Charms. But that was beside the point.
He threw down his quill, growling and pulling at his hair, then rubbing his eyes. "Why does this have to be so sodding difficult?" he groaned to himself.
He didn't want to ask Lily for help--he couldn't ask his girlfriend for help. Though, he would love it...then again, where would his pride go? Why couldn't he just understand the bloody subject.
He dropped his head down, taking a break from the brain cramp--he couldn't fail. But then again, how was he to pass?
"Fuck," he said to himself.

Lily had walked through the portrait hole just as the last word was muttered from James' lips. Her arms were full of books, and she dropped them onto a nearby table before walking over to her boyfriend, giving him a kiss on the top of his unruly hair.

"I'm just a tad tired," She sat next to him on the couch, holding his hand. "What are you up to?" She eyed the books. "Studying?! James Potter?! Studying? Oh, my heart," she put her hand to her forehead. "Methinks it stopped!"

"Did you just tell me to shut it?" Lily shrunk back in mock-shock. "Potter-- studying AND talking back to his woman? Who are you and what have you done with my James?"

"Erm..." he furrowed his brows. He'd love help, but you don't ask for help from your girlfriend...it makes you seem inferior, dumb, weak, etc. He didn't want that. "No thanks, I...I can manage. I'm just tired, I s'pose."
