Student Information
Full Name: Marlene Elizabeth Mckinnon
Age: two weeks shy of 17.
Year: 6
House:Gryffindor
Appearance Description: ((Sophia Bush))Long, brunette hair, hazel eyes, and an athletic build make up the Marly we all know. At about 5'3'', this girl stands taller than most. Despite her size, she'll take you down with a short, quick fight.
Biography: Marlene's a tom boy, to put it in the most simplest terms one can think of. She grew up with two older brothers, their friends, and a dad who loved sports. In such an atmosphere, it's hard to avoid a strong attraction to sports and music.
Marlene is a muggle-born girl, but even so, she's one of the most fearsome, toughest, and smartest witches you'll find around these days. She's every bit Gryffindor--brave with a lion's heart. She may have a quick temper and a tough, and at times immature, exterior, but Marlene isn't given the credit she deserves.
Growing up in Lily Evan's neighborhood, the girl's vaguely knew each other, though they couldn't be considered best friends. As Marlene grew up, she noticed things. She realized most girls liked skirts and dresses, whereas she wanted to burn every single one of them. She realized that the ratio of boys to girls in the organized sports teams were largely in favor of the boys--she was an avid football fan, and now Quidditch as well.
She also noticed that her older brothers seemed to move out of her house as soon as they graduated from high school. She noticed that her parents loved to raise their voices to the highest volume when holding a conversation with each other. And when she was 9, she realized that Mummy had brought home another man, whom she was kissing, that wasn't her dad. And dad found them and soon enough, her parents were living in different houses. She lived with her dad, whom she adored.
As she got older, she also noticed she had certain...abilities the other children didn't seem to have. She could do things unfathomable just by merely concentrating on it. She thought it was the coolest ability in the world, of course. When she told her dad, he just laughed. But when she told her mom, it was a different story. She was yelled at for lying and for making such nonesense up. And then her Hogwarts letter came. Her father couldn't be more proud. Her mother called her a freak.
And then, of course, she went off to Hogwarts, finding Lily Evans along the way. The two became closer--best friends. And then, Marlene met the Marauders. She has a special relationship with each. James is like a brother to her, the one she tends to go to talk to. Not to mention, she keeps has a tendency to help him out with Lily, though Lily doesn't know. Remus is also like an older brother--the ever wise one, he always seems to calm her down and tutor her when needed. Plus, he has a soft spot the rest seem to lack. Peter is the one she jokes with, occasionally, though she can't say her relationship with him is close or special, really.
Then Sirius. Oh, Sirius Black. She, and James, had been playing Quidditch with him since first year. Her relationship with his was something else--she supposed it was a brother sister one, but in the whole love hate way. She loved him, but acted like she hated him. And, though she'd never admit, she has feelings for him past friendship--had since 4th year. But, Sirius is a player, and she doubts he'd ever notice her. That, and she's in denial of falling for the Sirius Black.
Of course, all good comes to an end for this girl. During fifth year, her father was killed by Death Eaters attacking her town. She was devastated in every sense of the word. And now, she was forced to move in with her mother and Brad. Brad, the item. Brad, the fiance. Brad, the verbally, and on rare occasion physically, abusive sonuvabitch who has the same low opinion of her as her mother--she's a freak. Scum.
She never told anyone of the hate that transpired in her mother's house. One thing about Marly--she never tells any of her problems, except to Lily who had the uncanny ability to read her like a book. But she wasn't even sure if Lily knew this. The only good that came out of moving was she was now closer to the Potter Manor, where James--and now Sirius--lived. She lost her dad, she wasn't allowed to play football (soccer) on an organized team anymore, and she was put through hell by Brad and her mother. And her mother didn't care.
Seems a bit dramatic, right? Marly would never let that get in her way, though. She was a listener, not a complainer. Sure, she could talk her, and your, head off, but never about her problems. Never. Hell, she just couldn't wait to move out.
And starting her sixth year at Hogwarts, her real home, makes her feel that much closer.
RP Example: [from a RENT RP--pretty heavy drama]
Clad in plaid boxer shorts and a NYU sweatshirt her friend had gotten her, she walked out of her bedroom after not sleeping through the night, looking like a train wreck. Dark circles were under her eyes, her hair was a mess, and her body showed clear exhaustion.
She started a pot of coffee, and then walked over to the couch, lying down and putting her arm over her head, looking at the ceiling. She wanted so badly to be able to sleep, but the same nightmare kept coming back.
Headlights. Her last glimpse of Gabe, in slow motion. Silence as the car was mangled. The cries of her unborn child, which made it all the worse. The blood. The pain.
Then, she wakes up in tears and a sweat. It happened now and then, but since she'd talked to Trai and Micah again, and had to tell the story of the past she was trying to run from, it'd been coming more and more often.
For a long time, she was stoic. She didn't cry much, mostly because everyone in town new, and everyone was always watching her, knowing the sad story of the young couple, and waiting for her to crack. She didn't. She just moved along, and pretended to move on.
In privacy, she'd cried a few times. At night, sometimes, when a breeze blew through the window, and she got cold and rolled over, and realized that the bed was empty and there was no hear to look for, it would hit her, and tears would fall. But besides that, she built a wall.
Now, it was starting to sink in. Almost a year later, it was finally sinking in.
She covered her face with her hands, rubbing her eyes and head, and staring at the ceiling some more.
She had thought about Micah, who was going through similar pains. He was strong, she thought. He was trying to move on and start dating, again. And he sure had her thinking. She wanted to be happy again. But the problem was, it felt wrong to be happy with anyone but the one person she desires most, and the one person she can't be with.
At one point in her thinking, though, she thought about Micah in a way she never had...a romantic way. However, it was a quick thought, because it felt wrong to her.
She got up, a little lightheaded from the lack of sleep and sunlight, and she walked into the bathroom, sitting on the toilet and holding her head in her hands. She tried to keep the happy, joyful, usual Holly front for people, but it took a toll on her, being happy all the time when she was dying inside most of the time.
She stood up, turning on the faucet of the sink and splashing some cold water on her face, looking in the mirror. The girl in front of her, in a baggy sweatshirt, dark circles under her eyes, greasy hair, and no smile...it wasn't her. She hated this. But she couldn't feel any different, no matter how hard she tried, it seemed.
And then, she started to cry. She knew she needed to shape up, because she didn't want to be the girl in the mirror. She couldn't keep doing this. She needed to change, no matter what it took. She just couldn't be that girl.
Falling her knees and hugging them close, she sobbed. She sobbed for Gabe, for her unborn child, for the pain of her friends. And most of all, she cried for the girl who was looking back at her in the mirror.

RPer Description
Name: Lily
Age: 17
Favorite HP Book: POA, GOF, HBP, and DH...though, I'd have to go with DH as my absolute favorite.Anything Else?: Let's see...I've been RPing for a little over a year now. One thing about me--I love drama. Not at all in real life, though, but in stories...well, I love an interesting story with juicy drama, comedy, but it has to be realistic...in the case of HP, as realistic as Harry Potter can get. Sue me for liking my storylines juicy, at times.
I've made some great friends doing it. And what else can I say? Oh, I'm madly in love with Sirius Black in person, even though he's a [dead] fictional character. Call me a dork, but I am. Anything else, feel free to ask. I like to think I'm pretty friendly, haha.
